Die Dermoskopie (Auflichtmikroskopie, Dermatoskopie, Epilumineszenzmikroskopie) ist eine nicht-invasive Untersuchungsmethode zur klinischen Diagnostik pigmentierter Hauttumoren und insbesondere zur Früherkennung des malignen Melanoms. Diese Methode stellt seit 15 Jahren einen wichtigen klinisch orientierten Forschungsschwerpunkt der Klinik dar und gewinnt in den letzten Jahren durch die rasante Entwicklung der Computertechnologie zunehmend an Bedeutung.
Gemeinsam mit den Hautkliniken von Neapel, Florenz und L'Aquila wurde kürzlich eine interaktive CD-Rom für Studierende und Ärzte fertiggestellt.
Weiters wird derzeit eine internationale Konsensus-Konferenz zur Terminologie dermoskopischer Kriterien und zur diagnostischen Wertigkeit der Dermoskopie vorbereitet, welche - dem Trend der Zeit folgend - virtueller Natur ist (Consensus Net Meeting of Dermoscopy - CNMD).
